Kim Soo Hyun Takes Legal Action Against Malicious Commenters Amid Ongoing Controversy
Actor Kim Soo Hyun has filed legal complaints against individuals posting malicious comments and false information about him online, his agency announced.
Gold Medalist, Kim’s agency, stated on April 15 that they submitted formal complaints to investigative authorities on April 14, charging the commenters with defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act and insulting behavior under the Criminal Act.
“Malicious posts, comments, and false information about Kim Soo Hyun are being indiscriminately posted and spread online,” the agency explained in their statement. “We plan to continue filing additional complaints against malicious posts that damage our artist’s reputation, and will do our utmost to protect our artist’s rights through strong legal measures against clear criminal acts.”
This legal action comes amid an ongoing controversy surrounding Kim Soo Hyun’s past relationship with the late actress Kim Sae Ron. The issue emerged on March 10 when YouTube channel “Garosero Research Institute” claimed, citing conversations with Kim Sae Ron’s family, that Kim Soo Hyun had dated Kim Sae Ron for six years beginning when she was 15 years old in 2015.
While Kim Soo Hyun’s side has acknowledged the relationship, they maintain it only occurred after Kim Sae Ron became an adult, denying any relationship during her minor years. The actor has already initiated legal proceedings against both the YouTube channel operator Kim Se-ui and Kim Sae Ron’s family.
The defamation case represents the latest development in a controversy that has significantly impacted Kim Soo Hyun’s career, with several brand partnerships being terminated and television appearances affected.
