FBI Designates Incident as Domestic Terrorism, Forms Special Task Force
A Korean-American man in his 30s was arrested last week for allegedly setting fire to at least five Tesla vehicles at a Las Vegas Tesla service center. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has classified this incident as domestic terrorism and has formed a special task force to investigate.
36-year-old Korean-American Paul Hyon Kim was arrested on the 26th by Las Vegas police for allegedly setting fire to at least five Tesla vehicles and shooting at Tesla vehicles at a Las Vegas Tesla service center last week.
Previously, around 2:45 AM on the 18th, at least five Tesla vehicles were burned and shot at the Tesla service center in Las Vegas. Police believe that Kim used Molotov cocktails to burn the Tesla vehicles and also fired shots at them.
The word “RESIST” was painted in red spray paint on the door of the Tesla service center at the time.
Investigators revealed that DNA samples found at the scene of the Tesla attack matched Kim’s DNA.
Las Vegas police stated that Kim arrived at the Las Vegas Tesla service center on the day of the incident driving a black Hyundai Elantra, wearing black clothing with his face concealed and gloves on.
Kim is also accused of damaging the service center building’s surveillance cameras with a rifle.
At a press conference held on the 27th, the police department revealed that Kim’s social media activity showed connections to communism and the Palestinian cause.
They identified him as an activist linked to social media groups including the American Communist Party, International Revolutionary Communism, Hidden Palestine, Palestine Action, and other social media groups.
Investigators discovered several firearms, including rifles, shotguns, handguns, gun parts, and ammunition after searching Kim’s apartment and his two vehicles.
Paul Kim has been charged with 15 counts, including arson, possession of incendiary devices, and vandalism. The FBI has classified this incident as “domestic terrorism” and has formed a special task force.
According to social media, Paul Kim is a cinematographer who relocated from Seattle to Las Vegas.
On Facebook, LinkedIn, and his website, Kim introduces himself as a “freelance cinematographer/videographer,” stating that he has worked on “films, reality TV, live events, documentaries, and digital content.”
Kim’s works include a short film titled “Alone in the Dark,” which he co-wrote and directed, and horror films “Adversary: The Wicked and the Dead” (2020) and “Adversary: Wanted Dead or Alive” (2023), where he served as cinematographer.
This attack is one of several recent attacks on Tesla-related facilities across the United States, seemingly related to Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s role in the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
