Kim Soo Hyun Files Criminal Complaint Against YouTube Channel for Sharing Private Photos
Actor Kim Soo Hyun’s agency has filed a criminal complaint against YouTube channel “Garosero Research Institute” and the family of late actress Kim Sae Ron for distributing private photographs that allegedly caused sexual humiliation.
Gold Medalist, through its legal representative LKB & Partners, announced on March 20 that it has filed charges against Kim Sae Ron’s family for providing private photos to the YouTube channel and against channel operator Kim Se-ui for publicly displaying them, citing violations of the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes.
The legal complaint specifically addresses a controversial photo showing Kim Soo Hyun partially undressed that was broadcast on the YouTube channel.
“The photo in question was taken when Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron, who was an adult at the time, were dating,” the law firm stated. “It captures parts of Kim Soo Hyun’s body that could cause sexual humiliation and should never have been publicly disclosed, nor is there any justification for its disclosure.”
The agency further claimed that “Garosero Research Institute” has been threatening to release additional similar photos, stating, “We had no choice but to take strong legal measures in response to this situation.”
Regarding the decision to include Kim Sae Ron’s family in the complaint, the law firm explained: “The unauthorized distribution of photos capturing Kim Soo Hyun’s body is not only an extremely serious act that cannot be overlooked, but there is concern it may be repeated, making it necessary to proceed with the complaint against family members as well.”
This legal action follows an ongoing dispute that began on March 10 when “Garosero Research Institute” claimed, citing statements from Kim Sae Ron’s family, that Kim Soo Hyun had dated Kim Sae Ron for six years, beginning when she was 15 years old in 2015.
After Gold Medalist acknowledged the relationship but maintained it only occurred when Kim Sae Ron was an adult, the YouTube channel released the controversial photo of Kim Soo Hyun doing dishes at Kim Sae Ron’s home, demanding he admit to dating her as a minor and apologize.
