As I uploaded my newest essay into my Google Drive, I added another piece of writing to the endless abyss of personal articles and stories. My writing has always been a form of expression; the enriched meaning enclosed behind words, sentences, and paragraphs has always resonated strongly with me.
Unfortunately, there was never a platform for me to publicly share my voice. Despite the endless list of pieces I had written, there was no place that allowed me to express my concerns or ideas about the problems plaguing the world today. This, however, enabled me to create a space that allowed for students with similar passions to convene.
Through my website The Scholar Series, my team and I have shared the voices of students striving to create change. When publishing our first issue, we were able to generate thousands of clicks from our community, who wanted a glimpse at our writers’ stories. By covering the world’s greatest challenges on this website, not only was I able to create a space that was inclusive for all, but I am also able to touch on the thousands of global matters through our own unique forms of expression. Through the meaning veiled behind our words, we are able to tackle these topics through writing and advocate on the world’s most pressing issues. Most of all, the community that this website was able to foster has created a sense of love, adoration, and appreciation, not just to our writers, but for writing in general.
Although the 124 essays stored in my secret Google Drive have still yet to all be published, one day I’ll be able to share every hidden essay of mine, each and every one providing my community a cause to reflect upon.
