MBC’s ‘Good Day’ to Minimize Kim Soo Hyun’s Presence: ‘We Recognize the Controversy’s Severity’

The production team of MBC’s variety show “Good Day” has decided to significantly reduce actor Kim Soo Hyun’s screen time in response to the ongoing controversy surrounding his alleged relationship with the late actress Kim Sae Ron.

In a statement released March 17, the production team acknowledged, “We recognize the severity of the cast member’s controversy and are prioritizing viewer feedback as we continue production. We have decided to edit Kim Soo Hyun’s appearances as much as possible.”

The team further explained their decision, stating, “We determined that as long as the controversy continues, it would damage the purpose of ‘Good Day,’ which began with good intentions, as well as the sincerity of other cast members and the support from viewers.”

Kim Soo Hyun participated in the show’s filming on March 13 despite mounting viewer demands for his removal following allegations by YouTube channel “Garosero Research Institute” on March 10 that he had dated Kim Sae Ron for six years beginning when she was 15 years old in 2015.

In the March 16 broadcast (episode 5), Kim’s individual segments were edited out, though he still appeared in group shots with other cast members. The production team noted this episode was “hastily re-edited to remove Kim’s appearances,” resulting in a broadcast approximately 10 minutes shorter than previous episodes with “insufficient details.”

Regarding the March 13 filming, the team explained they “conducted recording and sketch filming in a way that minimized overlap with other cast members, anticipating content deletion.” They confirmed Kim’s individual recording session from that day will not be broadcast.

Kim Soo Hyun’s agency Gold Medalist initially denied the relationship allegations, but on March 14 acknowledged he had dated Kim Sae Ron, though maintaining it was only after she became an adult.
