Kim Sae Ron’s Family Files Defamation Lawsuit Against YouTuber, Considers Legal Action Against Kim Soo Hyun
The family of late actress Kim Sae Ron has filed a defamation lawsuit against YouTuber Lee Jin-ho, operator of the “Entertainment President Lee Jin-ho” channel, for allegedly spreading false information about the deceased actress.
Attorney Boo Ji-seok, representing Kim’s family, submitted the lawsuit to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on March 17, specifically targeting videos claiming Kim fabricated her relationship with actor Kim Soo Hyun by posting suggestive photos on social media.
“Lee went beyond denying the dating relationship between the two and spread false information portraying the deceased as a strange woman, causing extreme psychological distress,” Attorney Boo stated. “We plan to file additional lawsuits regarding other videos.”
The legal representative explained that the family was forced to reveal the couple’s dating history and release past photos to counter these false claims. He added that they are “considering legal action against Kim Soo Hyun’s side as well.”
Kim Se-ui, CEO of YouTube channel “Garosero Research Institute” who joined the press conference, emphasized that “all the family wants is a sincere public apology from Kim Soo Hyun and acknowledgment that the two dated for six years starting in 2015.”
The controversy began on March 10 when “Garosero Research Institute” claimed Kim Soo Hyun dated Kim Sae Ron for six years beginning when she was 15 years old, later releasing photos of the pair together and text messages. In response, Kim Soo Hyun’s agency admitted to the relationship but stated it lasted only about a year after Kim Sae Ron became an adult, denying any relationship during her minor years.
Kim Sae Ron passed away in February 2025, roughly three years after a DUI incident in 2022 that significantly impacted her career.
