Seoul Songpa Police Station has officially identified and summoned a Japanese woman in her 50s as a suspect in the attempted unwanted kiss incident involving BTS’ JIN, News1 reported today. The woman has been charged with public indecent assault following a seven-month investigation that included international cooperation with Interpol Japan!
The controversial incident occurred during JIN’s special “Hug Event” on June 13, 2024, at Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium in Seoul, where the beloved idol met with 1,000 fans to celebrate his military discharge. During the event, footage captured a female fan approaching JIN’s face in what appeared to be an attempt to kiss him, sparking widespread outrage across the fandom.
Following the incident, screenshots of blog posts allegedly written by the woman circulated online, containing disturbing statements like “my lips touched his neck” and “his skin was incredibly soft” – comments that further enraged protective fans.
The police investigation began after receiving a formal complaint through the People’s Petition platform requesting an investigation for violation of sexual violence laws. The case required international cooperation through Interpol, finally resulting in the identification of the suspect seven months later.
