On the 17th, the Inside Safe program was implemented at the intersection of 7th Street and Serrano Avenue in the heart of Koreatown, clearing homeless tents in the area and relocating homeless individuals to temporary shelters.
This homeless tent clearing operation, carried out in cooperation with the Los Angeles 10th District office overseeing Koreatown, was the 63rd operation of the Inside Safe program, a homeless relief initiative launched after Mayor Bass took office.
Through the Inside Safe program on this day, 12 homeless individuals were relocated to temporary shelters prepared in the 10th District.
The Inside Safe program aims to clear homeless tents in areas with frequent resident complaints about homelessness and provide housing services to those who have been living in tents. The program contacts homeless individuals in advance to see if they wish to move to shelters, and provides services to those who are willing.
For homeless individuals who haven’t been consulted in advance, the program confirms their willingness to move to a shelter on the day of the Inside Safe project implementation, and provides housing services if shelter space is available.
City of Los Angeles officials stated that they plan to implement the Inside Safe program for homeless encampments near Koreatown in the coming days.
