K-pop girl group (G)I-DLE launched their third world tour “iDOL” at the KSPO Dome in Seoul’s Olympic Park on August 3, 2024, marking a significant milestone in their career. Despite scorching temperatures exceeding 30°C (86°F), around 8,000 fans from various countries gathered to witness the group’s performance at this prestigious venue.

The members expressed their gratitude for their growth, noting their journey from smaller venues to the KSPO Dome, which is considered a “holy ground” for K-pop. Leader Soyeon remarked on the group’s progression through various concert halls, attributing their success to their fans, known as “Neverland.”

Debuting in 2018, (G)I-DLE has steadily built their popularity with charismatic music and powerful stage presence. Their unique sound, often produced by Soyeon, has helped them stand out in the crowded K-pop scene. Hit songs like “HWAA,” “TOMBOY,” “Nxde,” “Queencar,” and “I DO” have propelled them to top-tier status in the K-pop industry.

The concert featured a mix of group performances and solo stages, showcasing each member’s talents. The group utilized the large venue with elaborate stage setups and performances, including aerial acts and dynamic choreography. They performed their latest hits and fan favorites, eliciting enthusiastic responses from the audience.

During the concert, Soyeon caused a stir with lyrics hinting at contract expiration, though their agency clarified it was part of the performance.

This Seoul concert marks the beginning of (G)I-DLE’s world tour, which will cover 14 cities globally, including Hong Kong, Tokyo, Tacoma, Oakland, Anaheim, Houston, Bangkok, Macau, and Sydney.

The group expressed their excitement about reaching this level of success in their seventh year and promised to continue making music true to their style.
