Hawkman Surpasses Gascón in Voter Support for LA County DA Race

A recent poll shows Nathan Hawkman, a candidate for Los Angeles County District Attorney, leading incumbent George Gascón by a significant margin in voter support for the upcoming election on November 5th.

According to a survey released by the UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies, 45% of LA County voters said they would cast their ballot for Hawkman if the election were held today. Only 20% of voters indicated they would vote for current District Attorney Gascón, while 35% remain undecided.

The poll revealed that Hawkman enjoys broad support across almost all voter groups. In contrast, Gascón’s image among voters appears considerably negative. Only 21% of respondents expressed a favorable view of Gascón, while 45% viewed him unfavorably. Hawkman fared better, with 35% expressing a favorable opinion and only 7% viewing him unfavorably.

A majority of voters blame Gascón for the recent surge in crime across Los Angeles. 60% of respondents stated that public safety in LA County has worsened over the past three years, with 53% attributing this decline to Gascón’s policies.

Nathan Hawkman, a Republican attorney who previously served as Assistant Attorney General in the George W. Bush administration, ran unsuccessfully for California Attorney General in 2022. He is running as an independent in this District Attorney race, promising to strengthen punishment for criminals and restore order to create a safer Los Angeles if elected.

The election for Los Angeles County District Attorney will take place on November 5th.
