Just two days before the U.S. presidential election on November 5, former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, who previously competed against Donald Trump in the Republican presidential primary, has declared that Trump could be “a better choice, even if not perfect.”
In what appears to be an appeal to independent and moderate voters during this highly contested election, Haley made her position clear in an op-ed published in The Wall Street Journal on November 3.
“While I don’t agree with Trump 100% of the time, we align on most issues,” Haley wrote. “However, I hardly agree with (Kamala) Harris on anything. That makes the decision easy.”
Haley emphasized to moderate voters that this election is essentially a choice between former President Trump and Vice President Harris. “There are people who like most of what Trump did as president but dislike his tone and cannot condone excessive actions like January 6, 2021,” she noted. “I want to point out to them that Trump isn’t the only person on this ballot. This election isn’t a referendum on Trump – it’s a choice between Trump and Harris.”
The former UN ambassador highlighted various issues that emerged during the Biden administration, including concerns about the economy, security, and energy policy. She argues these areas would improve under Trump’s leadership.
“Americans today are spending an average of $13,000 more annually than they did four years ago,” she pointed out, criticizing the “Biden-Harris policies that have fueled inflation and burdened households.”
Regarding national debt, Haley warned that “Harris as president would further worsen America’s fiscal crisis.” She also addressed border security, stating, “The southern border is our most urgent security threat. Biden and Harris have dramatically worsened it.”
“The Trump administration would be different,” Haley asserted. While acknowledging it “won’t be perfect,” she expressed agreement with Trump’s positions on maintaining and lowering taxes and expanding American energy independence.
“I agree with Trump’s vision that America needs to be much stronger than it is now,” she stated. “When Trump was president, Russia didn’t invade other countries, China faced its most serious pressure in decades, and our southern border was much more secure.”
She concluded by highlighting the “enormous differences between the two candidates on taxes, spending, inflation, immigration, energy, and national security,” declaring that “Trump is clearly the better choice.”
The endorsement comes at a crucial time in the campaign, and political observers are watching closely to see how Haley’s support might influence moderate voters and her own supporters in the upcoming election.
